Some tips for packing products:
Remember that it is important to understand the whole logistics chain – the farther the product is shipped, the more durable the packaging needs to be, increasing the risk of damage and often the impact of negative factors.
➯ 1. Choose the right box size
The box should be only slightly bigger than the product you are sending. Make sure that the empty spaces are filled in so that the products do not move (for example, if you are sending shoes, the box in which you put the shoe box should not be much bigger than the actual shoe box).
➯ 2. Wrap each item
If your product is fragile or could break, explode or spill, make sure everything is wrapped in cushioning material. Bubble wrap or kraft paper products can be used to prevent damage.
➯ 3. Fill the empty space in the packaging
Use different materials to fill the remaining space between the product and the box. Ideally, all empty spaces should be filled with the right packaging materials so that nothing can move in the box during transport. This is particularly important for goods such as electronics, where even a small scratch can interfere with its disposal.
➯ 4. Try a test shipment
If you are working with a new carrier or delivery courier, you can make trial or test orders to see if they deliver packages without damage. Whether or not you are worried about damage to your parcels, it is still wise to send one or two trial parcels and check that they arrive safely at their destination.
➯ 5. Mark the box as fragile
If the product is fragile, make sure the warehouse staff knows this and stick the shipping label “Fragile” on the box. You can even use two stickers on the side and top of the box to make sure they don’t miss the label.
➯ 6. Collect and review data on shipping damage
If you have problems with shipping damage, be sure to write down each damaged package, the type of damage, how it happened and take steps to prevent it from happening again. You may need to choose a different box design or a thicker packaging material that will be better suited for transport. Therefore, the packaging manufacturer usually does not make an effort to understand the whole logistics chain and to learn more about the goods to be packaged and their characteristics. Professionals from our company will choose the most suitable cardboard packaging option.
